Pinto Camshaft Problems

Pinto Camshaft Problems
Hi All,
I am hoping someone on here can help me. I am experiencing major cam wear on my 2.0 pinto engine, there is a really bad 'tappity' noise from the cam after only being driven for a few miles and I am now on my third cam! It seems that the followers are the main cause of the problem as these are becoming very badly worn, which in turn is wearing the lobes on the cam.
The bottom end of the engine is completly new, and each time the cam has been set up in accordance with Kent Cams procedures and plenty of cam lube was used. It is a new spray bar and I have checked that plenty of oil is spraying on the cam.
Has anyone experienced this problem before.
Thanks in advance
Aron

Seen it a few times, are you running the cams in correctly, ie not too low a speed for first 20 minutes or so ?
Spray bars are faves for getting blocked, Burton's used to do a bar with a filter in it, maybe still do ?
How much is plenty ?, as there should be a defintite strong jet even at idle when warm.
I always used to use regrinds as these were better as they were already work hardened, what cam spec is it ?

Yes, ran the cam in as per Burton's instuctions in the 2008 brochure. I bought the KCRL31K (Road/Rally cam) Kent Cams kit from Burton, which came with a spray bar but don't know if that has filters in it.

new cams always need "hardening" especially in pinto,s ive found
i always fit the new cam then for 10mins run motor at a constant 4000rpm
then let idle for 5 mins then go out and give it some stick
always worked for me

The spray bars with the filter, are easily identifiable as it is the centre of the bar, and cleanable.
I used to just use cheaper regrinds, as no running in needed, as already work hardened, never had a problem with any.
