Default Escort Cosworth Koni Problem

I've just replaced my knackered suspension for a koni sport kit (-30mm) and have hit a problem.

The spring cups on the front shocks are rubbing on the tyres. The cars running 18" Rondell's with 225/40 R18 tyres.

Spoken to a couple of tuners and they suggest either using a hammer to alter the the cups so they fit (not a prob as the springs are tapered so there's loads of spare meat on the cups) or to use 5mm spacers. Not too happy about using spacers as there isn't much meat for the nuts as it is.

Any idea's????????

As above, I had to do this. It can depend on the wheel off set though. I have 8.5 x 18 et18 & they still required the spring cups modifying. I've got another set that are 8 x 18 et25 & I've had to buy spacers (Eibach) not the cheap ones from Halfords to get them to fit.

You could use LONGER studs with the spacers ?

to much spacers on the front isnt good,
keep the ET as low as possibile
you got to much torque steer,
better lower ET - much better handling.

This is why I supply the Mos in ET15, as ET25 causes these issues. I personally don't like spacers UNLESS they are proper hub centric ones (which Eibach do 10mm ones ).

This is what you have to do to the spring cups to clear .
