Default boost

Had my cossie set up by stu about 8months ago

I fitted a brand new turbo technics t35 0.55 housing and actuator

i have had it out about 8times and put about 500 miles on it

when set up stu had it set up with 29psi to give 380-390bhp

I had it rolling roaded on the 15march and recored 335.9bhp and 377lbft torque which was a bit down on expectations

I had it out for a run at the weekend and notice that it is only recording 24psi on the gauge and i now think this is why it may have been down on power

Am i right to assume to the actuator has been bedding in and therefore the psi put out has dropped

Would i be right in also adjusting the actuator up to give the reading of 29psi as set up by stu

Was the figure at the wheels if so thats near just a little down on a 2wd set up

I'd put a little more preload and test keep doing it untill u get what u need also check hoses for a boost leak

Default car

figures at the fly wheel

when you say preload you mean tighten the actuator to increase the boost that the actuator will hold before dumping to the exhaust

If you didn't have the turbo specced with an inconnel arm on the wastegate, then nine times out of ten, it is this that has twisted. What happens is the wastegate arm gets that hot, that the spring tension on the actuator is sufficient to twist it. This has the same effect of backing off the acuator, and thus you lose boost. If it is this, you will have to keep adjusting the actuator to rectify it until you finally run out of adjustment. The only cure is to send the turbo away to have the arm replaced with an inconnel item that can take the heat of high speed running.
