Angry wiring problem

hi i am hopping sum 1 here can help me i have a 1989 g reg s2 i brought as a project when i got the car it was in bits and the battery was missing (when i say in bits the interior was out and the bumpers were off ) when i fitted the new battery no matter which way round i fitted the wires the dash lights are on when the ignition is turned off it is dead on the key and the fuel pump isnt priming (when i atempt to start the car the thottle position sensor is clicking) any help is welcome as its doing my head !!!

unfortunatly there is not enough info for anybody to really help you.can you get a pic of the wires near the battery?.the side and dash lights will come on when the ign is off.could be a faulty light switch.common fault. if you know the battery is ok,then test the wires at the ign switch,under the steering columb cover.

thanks i will take another look and get sum pics up the car was fitted with 3 old alarms which have been disconected so i removed them
