Default zetec turbo piston/ring problem help & advice needed

hello all

got a really annoning problem with a full zetec 16v turbo turbo conversion i've done on my FRST its doing my head in

short block has been rebuilt using standard pistons with new matched rings all new shells, new pumps seals, oil sprayjets added, spotlessly cleaned, have had car on rollers recently (run in 1800 miles did miss a beat),only to be told it has low compression & cylinder "leakage) only making 100 bhp at wheels ,advised to take head off see if there is anything wrong, after head was taken off all bores are scored (groves on wall of bores),

all main components ie block, pistons, crank etc checked by a reputable local engine shop before re-build,pistons i used where standard, measured with micromiter to match up for rings.

what i need to find out is the possible cause of this & if anyone has experienced problems themselves & can offer me some advice as to a way forward

thank again for looking

So what caused the scores? Did the rings snap in running-in period?

had the engine been mapped?
sounds like it's been running too lean if you ask me.
overheated pistons and rings have been grabbed and casued damage.
