Default s1 gearbox

Put a secondhand s1 gearbox in my car at the weekend and went for a drive only to hear it groul If i push the clutch in stop`s.Wonderin if anyone has any ideas.

did you fit a new clutch as the same time mate, could be release bearing

No , didnt fit a new clutch but did fit a new release bearing.

does it get worse the faster you go or is it just as stand still you can hear it?

No noise on stand still only when you speed up. It`s a growl like a really bad wheel bearing.

if its through all the gears then its probably your diff bearings.

Yeah it`s an LSD box is the diff fu#ked or is it the box , or both.

no way of telling till you open it im afraid, chances are its your diff bearings as they are often the main cause, either that or the end of the mainshaft is breaking up causing loads of tiny bits of metal to go into the rest of the box

does thhe speedo work ok? if so its unlikely to be diff the diff bearings.
what oil did u use in the box? most likely to be the mainshaft bearings

Yeah speedo works ok, i used 80- 90 oil.
