hi folks
i was thinking about replacing the locks on my escort, is it just a case of changing the transponder or do i have to change the ecu?
thanks

if its on an escort just change your locks, maybe you can get the chip from your key into the new keys?
but the locks have nothing to do with the coding, nor does the ignition. Only reason the ignition key needs to be coded is cause it goes to the "blackbox"
you can get around this by taping one of your coded keys to the black box under the cowelling, then just changing your locks to any set, and your new keys wont even need to be coded.

when i brought my car it had a red key with it but when i got it home i then realised it only opened the boot, the other keys all open the doors and start the car apart from the boot.
