cossie died on me!!!!!!
it died on me whilst out thrashing it today at about 7000 rpm in first gear.
i have narrowed it down to the fuel pump, it will only prime when i connect a live wire to it but not from the ignition.
i have checked for a loose fuse or relay in the footwell but all seems fine, could the relay have died on me, (is it the green one???).
or if not what could it be.
regards
mike

The fuel pump relay is yellow mate. Well it is on a 4x4 saff. If you have got a faulty crank sensor or crank sensor connector the engine ecu wont pick up the signal so then the fuel pump wont prime. Put if it was the crank sensor at fault it wouldnt start. When i first got my cossie i got told to replace the fuel pump relay cause its a common fault and they stop working apparently.
You don't say if the engine starts when you connect direct to pump ?
If it does then the fuel pump is ok at least.
Have a wiggle on the CPS connector first, there is no reason other than crank walk why the cps would be damaged, but if it had this much walk your engine would be all over the floor anyway!!
The prime only works under certain conditions, cehck as said the cut off, some people even wire the pump through relay direct to ignition, still goes through, cut of so safe.
