Have a wiggle on the CPS connector first, there is no reason other than crank walk why the cps would be damaged, but if it had this much walk your engine would be all over the floor anyway!!
The prime only works under certain conditions, cehck as said the cut off, some people even wire the pump through relay direct to ignition, still goes through, cut of so safe.

Under your spare wheel mate,if i remember its a red bit of plastic but can't remember if its up or down and check spades haven't come loose inside
