Is the car modded ?
If std then it sounds like it is VERY lean, base nsetting for screw is normally around 1 1/2 turns out from fully in, as a starting point.
What car or the correct model number ?

its a 1.9 cvh, big valve head, piper 285 cam with vernier set to 2 degrees advance, its a 32/34 dtml carb, think its off a 1.8 cvh sierra, if i have the chokes open when warm it splutters at low speeds and is fine flat out, but if i close the choke 2/3rds then it fine low speeds but looses full throttle power?????

right i can get ok driving with the choke fully open if i wind the mixture almost all the way out, dizzy is set smack in the middle or it pinks, cam pully says 2 marks to advance, she use alot of fuel like this though, its ok if i have the choke 2/3rds closed and the mixture half a turn out from closed????

All the 1800 sierra's used PIERBURG 2E3, manuals and auto's.
I can't find any listing for choke sizes of 32/34, can you put up a piccie, or get full number off the base of carb ?

I have looked in me book of ford carbs for 78-91, it is not listed, but sure I have heard of it.
I seem to remember it as a later xr2 carb, with vac secondary, but might be confusing it!!
The only advice I could give is maybe speak to RON KIDDEL, at the carb centre 0208 348 4218.
It will almost defo require rejetting due to mods so might be best just to book it in somewhere.

My buddy just rang me after seeing thread about this carb.
It was offered as a replacement carb on various cars to replace the PIERBURG 2E3,(1800 sierra!!) and is fitted on anything from 2.5 landrover to 1.3 vauxhall/vw/bmw etc etc.
By all accounts it is a very good carb, as I say used in Weber's carb replacement kits, and there was me remembering a xr2!!
