Default Ford Saph stereo help!

I bought a Ford tape/radio off ebay the other day as my Saph has no tunes! The model of the stereo is a Ford 2008 tape player. I have just recieved the head unit so gone straight to my car to find the standard wires in my car are different to the inputs on the stereo

My car is a 1989 Sierra Saph 2.0 DOHC Ghia.

Ive seen these headunits in 1992 Saph 4X4 Cossie's, think they were standard fittment and also on Granada Scorpio's.

My plugs are 2 long thin black plugs. The input for this headunit looks like 3 small plugs.....any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is..... If i could find a Cossie 4X4 thats being broken I could have the plugs off that then work out which wire goes to which on my loom and solder them together.

Any help/advice would be great as im really big need of some music, cant sing to myself anymore!

I think I have a load of these plugs. Can you send me a pic of the back of the unit.

I think the 2008 has an external amplifier too. This normally is clipped on the bulkhead behind the "shelf" above the glovebox.

Has you car got this? If not you won't get any sound even once you have power to the head unit.

You deffo need an amplifier with the correct lead. You also need a blue terminator plug to go in the socket with the blue dot (where the CD player or graphic equaliser would normally go).

I've fitted loads of these and they're a nightmare to get going without the correct leads.
