Default Series 1 RS Turbo Overheating

Hi guys another question, my car has been laid up for a number of years and Im now sorting it out to get it ready for MOT, when the cars idling the temperture rises towards the red with no sign of the fan kicking in, I havent let it run up into the red incase of head damage, when does the electric fan kick in and what are the possible causes, sticking thermastat or is there a sensor built into the rad?

There is a fan switch, usually in the rad, bridge the connections to ensure the fan works ok.

my m8 has a s2 and his m8 eats lives and sh**s cossies.... cossie shi**er sed to put a cossie fan switch in replace of s2 one cos it wil kick in bit earlier than s2. if ur switch broke (sounds like it may b) id say go with cossie one as same price - £12 i think. my m8 swears by it... he says its fu**in brilliant. it wil def not do any harn if its not better and direct replacement

Thanks guys, I took the connector of the switch and bridged it and yes the fan now runs all the time with the car on, does anyone know the part number / name of the switch and if it can still be bought over the counter at Ford.

thanks for your advise.
