Correct fuel pump to use? (mk5 Escort for ZVH EFI Turbo)
Hi ppl, i've recently changed my worn 1.6 CVH bottom end for a nice 1.8 zetec block.
The rest of the engine is FRST EFI setup with 701s and 195 powerchip etc.
Since I 1st built it it was always totally flat after about 4,000 rpm but i'd put this down to the fact that the crank, rings and shells were worn.
That was back running standard ECU and ~8psi boost off my T3.
Now i've changed to a 1.8 block modified correctly etc but the car runs even flatter now. ie in 1st gear there's lots of power and torque as much as i'd like to take the revs up. In 2nd there's power only up to about 3000 rpm and 3rd, 4th and 5th are just dead ie hardly any acceleration.
When I first converted the car from 1.6 carb cvh I had to change the fuel tank and got one off a mk5 XR3i with integral pump.
So what i'm suspecting is that this pump just ain't up to delivering the fuel pressure needed.....
Any ideas ppl?
Oh and as an afterthought are most Ford in tank pumps the same fitting ie could I use one sourced from say a 2litre Mondeo just to test before getting a more permanent fix?
Thanks for any help you might give
