IIRC this has to be at 0.8? Please someone correct me if I am wrong
Gap as you would any other sensor - loosen bolts, get gap right and then tighten up (gap between 4 pickups and sensor)

I dont know much about FRSTs to be honest, only cossies. But in the cossie land the other critical part of the equation is the Phase Sensor. Sepcifically, the wires in the sensor tend to break down.
Now on a cos, it is located on the distributor (under the cap). Dont even know if the RST uses one but it will need some form of cam timing input. If there is, also check that it is gapped properly - I think the manual says betweeen 0.2 - 0.3

Sorting your CPS to PPS syncronisation would seem a better bet.

I think that PPS would be Phase Position Sensor(Stu?)

Is the Phase sensor in the dizzy like the cos? If so, then it is basically a magnet. You can undo one of the screws and adjust with feeler gauges.
Sadly I know nothing of the non cossie stuff!

CPS gap = 0.8
PPS gap = 0.3
Dizzy also needs rotating so that the rotor arm points to the groove in the dizzy body.
