I dont know much about FRSTs to be honest, only cossies. But in the cossie land the other critical part of the equation is the Phase Sensor. Sepcifically, the wires in the sensor tend to break down.

Now on a cos, it is located on the distributor (under the cap). Dont even know if the RST uses one but it will need some form of cam timing input. If there is, also check that it is gapped properly - I think the manual says betweeen 0.2 - 0.3
