I dont want to go Full ZT cos i've been told that an 8v is more torquey and there are alot of other costs to consider with a different manifold, cams, headwork etc...
All im really looking for is a ZVH where i can use most of the parts i already have.
I'm not saying i wont one day go full ZT, but for now i just want to do this as another step in the learning curve of engines.
Also, i fucking hate it when you eat an orange and you get pips in your mouth
Apples all the way, for now

Get it done right and right first time, You'll only pay in the long run
What jake says too, Sort a budget out first, as things always lead astray if you dont
280 is relatively over the top for a zvh in most people's eyes. lol
Why not just get from whoever your mate got his from if you are pleased with that one?
Thats the thing, the bloke with this car worked at a certain tuning company near by. Built it himself. If i take the car to said company i may never see it again
Anyway, i might get him to build it but thought id see what else is on offer as my mate is snowed under with work at the mo.
What do you mean 280 is over the top? I've 300+ knocking about!
Been around for years that and built by P.T.S

As in another thread, CM Tuning for your engine and MSD for your mapping once complete.
CM Tuning offer 12 month warranty with engine too with very reasonable pricing.

Ex Jamsport engine builder, left and now working for himself.
Few peeps off here having engines built by them as far as I am aware.
CM Tuning also use a cosworth technician for all their heads too, who has a flowbench.

im going 2.1 zvh soon but i only want 230 bhp and already have a stage 3 head so just a bottom end for me, also keeping the mfi so not bothering going 16v as seems pointless for the power i want, hopefully wont need a lot of boost to make this so it will be reliable

Well done

I asked Karl the question when my bottom end hadnt even been machined and the head not even sourced and ported, and he said "Forget 16v, the cost will be A LOT!!"
Left it at that, he didnt mention gains etc as why would you need more than 350bhp from an 8v head?
Dont care anyway either way, my car is QUICK

The point Iam trying to make is that to put a standard zetec lump in with machined calibra pistons will give you so much scope in the future.
I think you should take a look at Paul Ripleys old fiesta as that ran a standard zetec lump I believe which cost him pennies.
It still holds the fastest 0-60 of front wheel drive and the 0-100 and quarter mile times have been rarely beaten.
I think you all need to wake up and smell the coffee
