I have a H reg frst which some smack-heads nicked last night
Fortunatly the immobiliser saved the day and they did not get it started
, they just pushed it away instead.
However i have it back in my possesion now, it just needs some bits fixing.
1) When they broke the steering/ignition lock they not only destroyed the lock but they smashed two of the lugs on the back of the steering wheel that allow it to lock, is this part of the wheel itself, part of the boss, or part of the column?
2) Ive been told that the column will need replacing due to the fact the steering lock is broken, (although the ignition barrel itself still works, you just cant lock the wheel). Is this the case??
Thanks in advance guys, your help will be much appreciated.
Luckily we have a name for the theiving scum so he'll be getting the
treatment

You will probably need to replace the outer bit of the column (the alloy bit with the barrel is in). I think this can be replaced seperately but I'm not certain.
If its an original RS wheel then those "teeth" are part of the wheel itself. You can keep the original wheel, but it won't lock properly when it is left in the position where the teeth are broken off...

cheers you guys, yer they're little bastards
just got a complete column with new wheel off a mate for cheap so it'll be fine, i reckon de-locking the doors is a must now.
Got a phone call from the police last night, despite the fact a neighbour caught and named the lad in the drivers seat they released him due to not enough evidence at the moment
