rev counter for coil pack UP DATE ITS SORTED
#42
to try this you need to make the the little resistor y-piece up first.
Then on the coilpack plug, connect the 2 wires up, one to each of the OUTSIDE wires (not the middle one!!). Then snip / disconnect the green wire from the ecu to the clocks and join the single end to the clocks!!
However this never worked on mine!!

i did the mod as per the msd instructions.
but still did not work i then went to maplins and got the diodes and fitted
them to pin 1 and 3 on the coil packand then off to the green wire on the multi plug at the
back of the clocks and now the rev counter works fine until 3.5k and then it drops down to 0
i think i will just have to get an after market rev counter

Matt,
Looking at doing this for me brother so he can actually get a reading up to his rev limit now what wire goes to what and is there anything needed to actually make the mondeo rev counter fit into the sierra housing?

I used this, got the bits from maplins
As for the wiring as you look at the back of the mondeo tacho you have 3 pins top, middle and bottom
The top pin on the tacho goes to the left pin on the ribbon cable
middle pin(the one with white tape on it) goes to the middle pin on the ribbon cable
and the bottom pin on the tacho goes to the right pin on the ribbon cable
hope that all makes sense

Its not a case of the rev counter not working for my brothers car its more a case of getting a reading upto the rev limit which is now 7600 i think, the mondeo counter fit seams like a good direction to go
