right rst has been standing for 4 years now and ive decided to start it so i can sell it
can get it started (eventually) wont idle and will only rev up to 2 k before it wants to cut out
was running fine before it was left to stand
any ideas?

 

possibly the fuel metering unit
it might of dried out inside

 

wouldnt run at all tho if that was the case would it?
im thinking that ive got low fuel pressure

 

shitty fuel, dodgy metering unit, fuel filter, dirty injectors u name it

 

top end sounds a little rattly as well
changed lifters and still as bad
thought poss a sticky lifter causing it to run bad

 

Changing just the lifters wont sort that mate you need to change the cam aswell as they wear together. As for your other problem have you topped it up with new/good fuel or are you trying to start it on the 4 year old stuff

 

it has new fuel in it
it will just about idle now but is missing and still wont rev
