Default Smoke from my ERST!!

Hi, i had some blue oily smelling smoke from my s2 erst a couple of months ago only at start up from cold, so i changed the turbo (it was a second hand one from a mate, hardly no play on the shaft!), and also brought a brand new Kent cvh 34 cam kit, and the smoke stopped!.

But the last 2 weeks it smokes on start up again not as much and not every day 3 times a week at the most, the engine has hit the 140k mileage now but still strong, i got 165 bhp and 190lbs of torque with just a chip and at 12 psi with no other mods in june so its not to bad for the mileage! any ideas for me to check, the cO2 is 3.5% think thats ok not sure though.

Sound like Valve stem seals but these should have come with the kent cam kit other than that it might be the piston rings but if it were the rings it would smoke all the time

i just remembered my orion efi was smoking on start ups even after i had a engine rebuild and i remember hassling the guy who rebuilt my engine. He got the CO adjusted and it was fine after that. Try getting your CO checked by any MOT tester.

If its deffo blue it aint the CO! Blue is oil. Stem seal may ahve pulled off. Were they the ones with the washer attached??? If so, did you remove the original washer??

Yeah they had the rubber washer on them, it smoked b4 the cam kit was fitted same blue smoke, then a few weeks later it started again, so i changed the turbo, as my old one was only a standard one and been on since new! and had so much play in it that the blades were hitting the casing!. My CO is 3.5% at the moment, think thats ok as i didnt want it to run lean.
