Lambda sensor question
i fitted a milltek 4-2-1 on my zetec s at christmas and when lengthing the lambda i crimped the wires hoping this would b good enough. now it never run right, wouldnt idle and if i put any throttle down revs would drop to around 300rpm and it would jus about stay runnin. i unplugged it and bein lazy its been like that since!
should i have soldered the wires? i didnt put any sealer on it either which was stupid lol but i was in a rush to get 2 brighton for a christmas party.
the lambda is a fuel parts copy but i think they make them for ford so that shouldnt b a issue! might extend the old 1 and try it on it as i replaced it without reason ages ago lol
cheers ken

A couple of things are at play here;
Firstly, your connections will be affecting the readout. The output from a lambda sensor isn't very large and a poor connection will not help.
Secondly, the ecu calculates the time from when a change is made to the fuelling until the sensor 'sees' this fuelling change and if you move the position of the sensor then the results get screwed up. You should, if you want the ecu to do work properly, modify a table in the code to let the ecu know about the position alteration.

see pumaspeed dont tel ya this! think il jus keep goin with it til i put the new engine in
im gonna solder it up and make the wire as small as possible and gum it in
cheers dude
