hi, got a mk4 escort and i'm thinking of drilling the airbox 2 questions....
where????
and how?????

is it an rst? if so drill the holes in the top part of the box, best way is to get a large drill bit or a tank cutter and cut about 20mm holes in it.

Drill the wrong side of the box and the air you'r engine sucks in will bypas the filter. i.e. your engine will be eating stones, dust, small dogs and old ladies. Make sure that you drill the side of the box that take the air through the filter.

nah it''s just a standard MK 4 1.3 lol c'mon guys i'm 17 the insurance rob me enough!!!!!!

any specfic way to drill one of these or shall i just get the drill out and cut the thing to ribbens???

jus get drill happy, jus take the top of the air box off and tape in the filter with duck tape!!! true bodge style!

Here Stateside we're keen on putting in cold air intakes, be they K&N or whatever... but in the case of a turbo'd car, it's necessary to not draw in preheated engine compartment air, so a common mod is to drill a hole through the bulkhead into the fenderwell and mount the cone filter down there. This also eliminates a lot of restriction common to the stock setups.
