How much power from a Zetec?
Hi. Can anyone tell how much power you can get from a 2 liter Zetec? I`m thinking of building a rallycross car with a Zetec engine. What will it take to reach 250 bhp N/A? The reason for using the Zetec is that i`ve 2 Zetec engines in my garage.I`ve heard the standard crank/rods are capable of 250 bhp.Is this true? Any input are appreciated.
It is a question of money. If you have the cash over 300 bhp is possible N/A. 200-230 bhp is not too difficult or expensive if done properly, check out www.dunnell.co.uk
I wouldn't have thought it would be cheap to get 250bhp N/A. I don't know of anyone that's got much over 200 using throttle bodies and aftermarket management. Be interesting to see you do it, just the costs involved would put me off.
240 ish is about the most on a nasp silvertop zetec
Blacktops slightly more
ST170 slightly more again due to head flow
Dont speak to Dunnell as the guy is an arrogant clown
Qizzed him before about stuff and he was clueless but made out he knew everything
You will need throttle boddies, alot of headwork, huge cams, high comp pistons, steel rods and a dry sump
Not a cheap option, If your going to all this expense start with an ST170 engine or completely different engine as you will get more BHP per £ spent
