we had a rolling road day yesterday with the cheshire rsoc and my 4x4 saff was the last to run, after a very dissapointing run the rolling road operator shouts over wheres reverse.

anyway we had to push the car back off the rolling road. he then came to me outside and brought me a bolt (about 70mm long 17mm head and around m12 in size)

we then got on the motorway on the way home and as soon as we reached 70 the gearbox was vibrating so much so that you couldnt touch the gearstick.

got it home put it up on axle stands but couldnt find where this bolt has come from and cant find any reason for loosing reverse.

is it time for a new gearbox?????????

have u checked all the joints on the linkage?

 

It sounds like a bolt from the gear linkage has rattled itself loose wen on the rollers.....
