Default IS IT CHIPPED?

How can i check to see if my ECU is chipped ?
I have just opened it & there is a long brown chip
with a clear circle in the middle of it with some
black marker pen writing, but i cant tell what it
says. Does it sound standard ?

What car is it?

Doesn't sound standard as most chips I've seen have a barcode or serial number on the back.

If its got marker pen on it, I'd say it was a fair bet that its aftermarket!

(fook knows whats in it though!)

Hopefully it was the ECU saying 'NO WAY!'

Or you may have melted something!

You can wire wrap it to hold it in place until you get a new one!

if i were you, i would set everything back to standard, and run it like that for a bit to gain a bit of reliability/trust in the car, and then when you feel it is reliable have it tuned.

Id put the standard ECU back in before your engine ends up doing this

It's not a good idea to just put a chipped ECU in and turn the boost up if you have not had it rolling roaded/tuned so the fueling is right.

All ECU's will work on any RST loom but if you fit a S2 ecu to an S1 it needs the knock sensor connecting otherwise it majorly retards the ignition.

A BAR you said 0.6 in the PM!! Your guna make that thing go bang mate i did say dont get adjusting the actuator too much

Don't come crying when it goes bang
