Lock Out

Lock Out
OK heres the story. I have a saph cossie with a Clifford alarm. Its been 'de-locked' The car locks itself after a minute or so if left unattended.
I think you know what coming next...
Anyway keys in the car. Car locked. Me outside. Really don't know what to do. Its a Clifford cat1 alarm.
Any reccommendations on who can get my keys out of the car - and how much?
No real need for " you are soooo stupid" posts as my wife has supplied plenty of that.
Thanks in advance guys

done this myself loads of times ,
tools needed
metal coat hanger and 2x screw drivers .
straighten coat hanger , put a hook on it about 1 and a half inch at the end , prize top of door open in front of the rubber with screwdriver nr the back of the door (front door)where it joins rear door and roof , use another screwdriver to hold it open while you place the coathanger behind the door lever ( on inside of car ) and twist , you will need to be patient as it took me ages , the hook will not hook around the lever as it is flush at the bottom .
good luck

The above will work, then get your Clifford alarm installed correctly, if it has sensed a door having been open since disarming it should not autolock, and is part of the thatcham criteria that it does not autolock after disarmiing where a door has been opened, or did you have it in position 2 ?
If you did not have it in position 2 but 1, the most likely cause is the door pin switch did not register the door opened, I replaced all four of mine with new as they corrode up, and mine did the same but I had a window open, I always leave one open when working on the car.

Clifford alarms (G4 ones) will autolock after you shut the door if the setting is turned on. This is why they give you a flash of the indicators after 10 seconds to say that the doors will lock in 20 seconds. It has nothing to do with correct installation, it actually says it in the manual if you look carefully.
The easiest option is to turn off auto-locking in the settings. OR connect up a 9V PP3 battery lead hidden somewhere that linked to the central locking system so you can manually open the doors when it does that (providing you have a PP3 battery).
BTW: I have never understood WHY people completely de-lock a car and leave themselves no form of alternative entry in? A friend of mine who OWNS an alarm shop doesn't even have his system connected to the central locking and NEVER locks his car. His theory is that they will try the handle 1st anyway, find it is open and promptly get deafened by the 6 120+ db sirens. Prevents them breaking a window or bending the door back and no damage. Not my way of doing it, but I can sorta see where he is coming from....

as iansoutham says its a good idea to have a hidden switch somewhere , i set one up on a mates lupo that was de-locked , basically a wire from the battery to the "unlock" feed in the central locking circuit with a push button switch in , i mounted it in the plastic arch liner as high up as i could and as the car was lowered it was difficult to get to and nobody knew it was there , got him out of the same situation a few times

Can you not use another persons Saphire key and open your car? This can be done with the focus pretty easily so I don't see why not on the older saphire. It takes some fiddling and there is a certain way to twist the key but it works. Maybe there is an old trick with your car?

as for getting into your car , you can do it with a small wooden wedge (door stop) and a bonnet stay or similar , prise out the top of the door slightly to get the bonnet stay through and flick the handle out with it

Also, auto-locking only activates if the auto-arming is set. They are 2 very different things that people get confused VERY easily. I have had to explain the difference to many a customer when fitting a Clifford or a Toad to cars.

Seriously though, as above! Cheaper than breaking glass and the door bends back OK! Got in to my Volvo in a few minutes. (My keys were stolen not locked in! Don't delock the boot in future, gives you the option to get in with the spare, but still too much hassle for the thieving scum! )

Thank you for all your posts guys - having weighed things up I decided to call out the window man and while he was there smash the window get the keys and he re-fitted the glass.
Not decided what to do about avoiding it happening again - plan is to be more careful in future...
