I have a 1.8 16v zetec engine and wen i start it up it revs really high and wen i press the accelerator the revs die and it almost cuts out!
Wen i sit in traffic it also idles really high and wen i pull away it almost cuts out.
Would this hav anything to do with the ISCV?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanx

 

the idle valve can cause this problem.but they do not cause the car to die when you accelerate off the lights. you can clean them out. but sometimes it doesnt make a difference. they are situated under the inlet manifold you can access it from getting under the car. the airflow sensor on the airbox can also cause problems like the car dying when pulling off the lights. if are gona clean both these sensors then use carb cleaner. hope it helps

 

cheers mate but turns out the engine dumped all its oil and the engine is knackered! Not sure why this causesd the engine to rev its tits off etc.
Never mind have a 2litre now waiting to go in
