Default FRST Waterpump

hi
my engines been gettin hot recently (again)
so today i changed the thermostat, put a hose pipe in the engine and radiator to flush the system, got a lot of pressure / resistance coming from inside the engine block,

have had a few xr2s /xr3is and when i changed the thermostat the flushing went much smoother.
this car is fitted with a recon radiator 8 months ago

am thinking maybe the water pump is on its way out and not spinning so good ??
anybody got an idea /opinion ?

Surely you didn't run the pipe through it with the engine running

so how can the water pump be presenting a restriction if its not spinning?!

What you've said contradicts itself?
