running in a new engine
Hi, i have just fitted a completley rebuilt 1.6 cvh efi fiesta turbo engine which i rebuilt myself with t3/t4 turbo. it has new main and big end bearings new piston rings and pistons etc. My question is:
I have never ran in a turbo engine before, and I heard from some people its good to wind back the actuator so that turbo is off, and then i have heard that its good to keep the turbo on to place some load on engine. What should i do?
Dont want to balls all my hard work up, thanks

The last thing you want is low down load on a new engine, leave turbo alone, and just use more revs rather than a higher gear to avoid load, when going up hill etc.
I stick to 3000rpm for the first 100 miles or so then over the next 400 raise it up to shorts burst up to 4500, then after that increase to around the 6000rpm for very short bursts(5/10) secs.
More important is to use MINERAL OIL, for running in and change at 500miles then 1000 miles, do not under any circumstances use a SYNTHETIC oil for running in.
