XR2 Turbo Conversion Problems
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone can help - have recently taken on building an XR2 Turbo from an old Escort RS Turbo i had - Engine and everythings now sorted however i am having problems with the electrics - i have followed a guide supplied on "Retro Fiesta" website explaining how it all wires up yet i'm having the following problem:
When i wire the fuel pump relay up the fuel pump starts without the ingnition?? not only this but it continues until the pressure finally bursts the connections on my fuel intake pipes! My wiring of the pump is as follows:
Black wire from Relay - Balck wire on coil
Thin red/balck wire on relay - Secondary airflow thinggy
Thick red/balck wire on relay - +ve terminal on Pump
Thick red wire on relay - 25amp perminant live
Green/red wire goes into ECU - never been touched
Brown on relay- earth
-ve side of pump earthed to chassis
Even with the pump running none stop i cant get the engine to turn over either?? I know the fuel is getting as far as the metering head as when i slackened the cold start injector feed off fuel came out.
Anyone got any ideas?? I'm totally out of my depth now!! LOL
Any help is much appreciated!

I Used all of the loom that was neccessary - both ecu's - all the sensors and the fuel pump relay. Didnt see the point in re-wiring all my lights and indicators windscreen wipers etc etc they were already there. Plus this conversion was stated in a "Step by Step " guide on "Retro Fiesta" website. Unfortunately my lack of wiring skills appears to have let me down?! LOL
there are a few people on www.xrtwo.com that should be able to help.

Hi
From the Fuel Pump relay
1x Thick red - This requires a 25Amp feed
1x Thick Black/Red - This will need to be connected to the live on your fuel pump
1x thin Black/Red - This will be on the same terminal as the above but will go direct to your ECU
1x Green/Red - this will be from the middle terminal and again go directly to your ECU
1x Brown - connect this to Earth
1x Black - connect to Black on coil
Sound like the air flow wire you have should go to ecu?
Hope this might help

just a quick note to ya bud i used the same guide for my mkv escort, the black/yellow wires need an ignition live feed and not a live feed as it says in the guide
otherwise you'll have the cold start valve on all the time and way too much fuel like i had for abit
