No spark on my festa Turbo
My fiesta Turbo died on me last night, it was at full boost when it just cut out. I tried starting it and all it was doing was turning over but didnt sound like it was sparking, and i was right no spark.
Is this going to be the coil pack or maybe the ECU might have a fault.
Anyone got any ideas.

oh i see, i know what you mean. When i test it with the multi meter is it just checking it makes a full circuit or is it for resistance.

no you are just testing for continuity in the first instance.
If there is continuity across it then you need to test the output voltage to see if its reading the marks on the flywheel

right i changed the cps and it still does not start and there is still no spark, does this mean its time to get a new coil pack?

what should the output voltage be, or should it just go up and down as it goes pass the marks on the fly wheel? What if the voltage does nor change?

Check the wiring/voltages to the coil pack.
Centre pin should read +12v with ignition on
Outer pins are pulsed earth when engine cranks

right ive tested the wires going to the coil, and i get a permainate 12v to the centre wire, and the 2 outer wires i get about 0.3v on and off when it is cranked over, is this correct

you cant test the outer wires while you crank, not with a digital meter anyway it doesnt respond quick enough, and in any case its switching earth so it depends what you have tested for.

right ive tested pretty much everything you have advised and the little bucker is still not having none of it.
Could it be anything to do with the ECU?

Ive read something about this before, do your heater blowers still work? Common for that relay to burn out although im not sure if its on the same circuit.
The injection module relay is red in colour, i know that controls power to the ECU.

The fuel pump relay is triggered to run the fuel pump from pin 22 of the ecu, which gives the relay it's earth.
The ecu needs to be powered up before it can switch the earth, so.....
Check that the fuel pump primes when you turn the ign to pos 2
If it doesn't prime, then your pcm could be faulty, or either of the 2 relays.
If it does, then your relays should be ok.
Then.
See if your fuel pump runs, while you are cranking the engine,
If it does, then your ckp, and edis should be ok, as it is giving the correct signal to your pcm.
May need to lift up rear seat, in order to hear the fuel pump properly.
If the pump isn't running, then you may have a faulty edis,
Check you have 12v on pin 8 and a good ground at pin 9.
Not too good with coils, but i'd have thought, if it were to go faulty, you would normaly just lose one bank, although that could be complete bollocks,
Hope that helps a little.

right we are finally getting some where.
When i turn the ignition on the fuel pump primes, but when its cranking nothing at all. So this could be the EDIS. I am just wondering when you mentioned pin 8 and pin 9 are these on the EDIS or ECU, if it is the EDIS the pin 8 (brown) and pin 9 (green) is this correct.
Im getting a new EDIS unit tomorrow so i'll let you know if it works.

If the pump primes and then turns off its probably more likely to be a wiring or EDIS fault, usually if theres an ecu fault the pump runs constantly which tells you its running in limp home mode.

right ive changed the EDIS unit and still no bloody spark. You mentioned a CKP sensor, which one is it, and could that be at fault.
I was thinking i have got a Clifford alarm on it, could that be causing it. All though when it did cut it it was like something broke not faulty wiring.
Please any help, i need my car back.
