If you have replaced the switch it sounds like you may have little or no oil pressure. If you visit your local FORD dealer they can check the oil pressure. This procedure will not cost much and then you will know if your oil pump is duff or not.

Is it idling at too slow a speed, this can cause it.
If it is ONLY doing it at idle when really HOT I would not worry, it is just a bit worn, or oil is too crap or thin, what oil are you using ?

i had that once on a trackday (it was 30degrees celcious outside).
Was driving on 10w40. changed it to 10w50. No problem since. however i also suspect my oilpump not really the best anymore.
On higher revs the pressure was/is fine now, just the hot idling was to low

More than likely early signs of a failing oil pump and/or the bottom end about to go........

i'm afraid so, but i've taken action to that, having a lowmilage 1.8ltr. zetec engine ready for zvh transplant. (it's just that the escort is stacked away due having a cossie project atm. which consumes much of available spare time)
