Sorry a see what ya mean, ive got a 1.3L mk3 escort, fitted a 1.9 cvh with 40`s, i didnt want to bolt a stupid rev counter on the dash, so i bought a set of clocks for a xr3 of e-bay. I plug`d them in and nothing worked. So i took the clocks apart and removed the rev counter from the xr3 clocks and took the time clock out of my 1.3L clocks and bolted in the rev counter. The 3 pins didnt line up with the printed circuit, so i was just going to run seperate wires to the rev counter(live, earth, etc). But i dont know what to connect to what? colours(blue, red yellow) which feed the rev counter.
EXAMPLE
RED to LIVE?
BLUE to EARTH?
YELLOW to -ve side of coil?
Is this correct?????

put the xr3 clocks back together and adjust the wiring in the plugs properly.

You'll need to run a feed into the car from the coil for the rev counter aswell

i think you've taken my reply wrong.

When you say "easier said than done", what exactly are you talking about?

yea because the wiring configuration is different, and the extra wires are for the auxiliary warning system which you don't have.

Get a wiring diagram its fairly easy to do

hello mate,

do you still have the clocks and pugs from the xr3? for the purpose of tracing the wires put the xr3 clocks back together so you can follow the circuit board on the back of the clocks

if you trace the wires from the rev gauge back through the clocks and onto the the wires on the xr3 plugs. The wires on the plug will be easier to find what does what as, feed to the coil is normally (if not always) green earths are normally (if not always) brown lives can be any colour but reds favorite.

If you look at the circuit board on the back sometimes earths or lives are "common" there will be more than one thing wired off the circuit power from the same circuit earth from the same circuit etc.

A wiring diagram would help for the exact colours but hopefully what i told you helps!

good luck
