2.8 V6 COLOGNE MISFIRE!!
I have an XR4i and it has a misfire. I`ve started checking for a spark at each lead and that is fine. This has caused me to believe it is head related.
I have taken off the H.T leads off one at a time to try and find which valve it is. Whenever i take the a lead off on the passenger side, it mis fires a bit more which i think should happen, but if i take a lead of the drivers side, the misfire dosn`t get any worse...
Has anyone ever expirenced this on the cologne before?
Do i need a new engine?, Head? etc ?????
Someone please help me........!!
Cheers, Ed.

If it does not get any worse on any of the cylinders on one bank it has got to be something comman to all cylinders so unlikely to be valve/head fault. First thing to check would be inlet manifold gasket or an air leak on a vac hose on that side of the manifold.

I`ve just checked them two, to no avail.
I bought the car with a misfire, and he said that he had done a decoke on it including new headgasket. Not to sure what he means by that.
Any ideas? Really f**kin me off now!!!

20K+ Super Poster.
I would be tempted to start with the basics ie timimg, ignition and cam and also do a dizzy swing to see if it improves first, check plug gaps etc and colour to see if rich, then try adjustiong after timimg swing the idle mix.
I have found from my short experience with these that they need a huge amount of ignition advance.
