engine rattle 4x4 yb
I have a rattle coming from my engine have had the lifters replaced but when i listen closely it sounds like they are still noisey the place that done the work is a local jap specalist they have a rolling road an i've seen many evo's,rx7's etc so assumed they were ok to carry out the work..
the question is can the cam lobes wear like the old pinto or do the lifters need "primeing"?
Sometimes its noisier than others but doesn't seem to be temp related..
the only other thing i can think of is the cambelt tensioner pullley but the niose does seem to come from the rocker cover any idea's guys

Did the new engine have a new oil pump ?
Check in the first instance your oil pressure, what sort of noise is it as it is not unusuall to be able to hear a GENTLE click click of the tappets, if you can hear it inside the car with the bonnet shut it is defo wrong though, unless you have good hearing!!
Most important of all what tappets did you use ?, were they genuine INA, ie FORD ones, if they were PATTERN you have your answer, though even they should last slightly longer than this.
I would as it is a new engine use a slightly thinnner oil like SILKOLENE PRO S 15/50, and genuine ford filter.

Had alook at the engine build receipt and no mention of new oil pump on the parts list
Seems funny the guy paid £7200 for the build with no new oil pump
The lifters were ina ones supplied them myself..
Whats the easyest way to check the oil pressure don't want to put into a garage at this stage and i presume the oil pump is an engine out job...
