Disconnect the electrical supply for about 15 minutes first.

Make sure you place it face down, just as a precaution!!, and be careful of any CLOCK SPRING there may be as these can unwind suddenly and break!!

If I were you I would not remove the airbag until you have checked for a feed and return on the HORN wire going to the wheel, just don't confuse horn with airbag, which should be YELLOW WIRES ON AIRBAG, be careful, they can cause injury.
The reason I say this is because you may find it is a loose connection not in the airbag, you could always just bridege the horn wires to see if there is anything, the HORNS do regularly pack up, but have a screw on them and can be retuned back in sometimes, so worth a look first.

Are you stupid!!!!!!

NEVER PLACE AN AIRBAG FACE-DOWN.

If it goes off, it will be like a ballistic missile. With the metal backing on the ground, it will just bounce slightly on the ground, instead of shooting about 30ft up in the air.
