Default rs turbo pistons

hi can any body tell me the amount you can skim off the top off the standard mahl pistons and what the comp ratio will be?

if the comp ratio was set at 8to 1 how much boost (psi) will the pistons take before i will have to change them for after market ones.
cheers

The standard pistons have around 7mm of material on the crown. Removing 1mm is no issue at all. It's a different thing if you need to. The basic pistons are surprisingly good. I've run ~30psi with the standard bottom end, including the compression ratio. Mostly I would be worried for the conrods which are known to fail when abused.

When I built mine, I used 1.0mm oversized mahl pistons and then under instruction from Ahmed had the crown skimmed so it ended up 5mm thick, couldnt tell you what the comp ratio was though sorry, but can tell you it went like a stink!
