battery light
just noticed my battery light is not alite could this be my alternator or should the light stay on when the engine is runing if it was the alternator
the car is a xr3i 1990

The light should come on with the ignition, as should the oil pressure light.
Both should go out when the engine is running.

I doubt it.....the alternator won't charge is the bulb is blown either.
Thats something you want to sort NOW, you'll have a flat battery otherwise

Check the thin blue wire that goes to the alternator for breaks and corroded connections

i'll check that one as well lol.
so whats that blue wire on the startmotor i'v knocked this wire b4 on a another escort and the battery light went out

The blue wire connects to the battery light!
The red wire will play no part in the battery light not illuminating
