Could also be a sign of the clutch starting to wear!
Is it difficult to get into 1st aswell? And does it creep forward at all when you leave it in gear with the clutch in?

Worth a thought though, the adjuster has gone on my run about and mines a bit of a slag until its warmed up (into any gear) its fine after though.

It could be as simple as your quadrant is fucked on the pedal.
But, i know on mine the clutch is completely ragged having covered 110k. You may well find the springs are snapping on the pressure plate. Is the pedal heavy and springy?

More than likely a new clutch set in the pipe line then
The pedal goes hard when the springs start snapping, as the load has to be spread across less springs, meaning more effort to disengage
