Default Quickshift gear mechanism for a 4x4 saph cossie

Hey peeps, my first serious post.

I bought a 4x4 sapphire cosworth about 2 months ago. I've spent the last several weeks ironing out gremlings, playing around, nearly crahing, getting drunk, and so forth.

My question is about quickshift gear sticks, are they any good? I don't like the length of throw on my MT75 gearbox and wanna make it more snappy and precise. I've found two kits, one in Demon Tweeks priced at £176.74 and one in Burton Power priced at £45.00. No its not a miss-type, the kit in B power is is over a £130 cheaper.

Has anyone fitted any of these two kits if so, how effective is the kit, which one would the experts recommend, Demon or B power and how easy is it to fit (will I need to remove the gearbox).

Thats about it, any help is appreciated.

hi m8 have fitted a b+m quickshift to my mota and its made a big difference, the quality off it is excellent as its a whole gearlever made from billet as opposed to just a kit to convert the old one. as for fitting m8 its easy if you have access to a ramp as you need to lower the box slightly to get into it if you cant get it on a ramp it can still be done its just a bit awkward thats all.hope this helps m8

Thanks for the reply apjcozzie. Where did you get your kit from and how much did it cost you? Talking to a mate at work he also recommend the b+m kit saying the quality is excellent.

Thanks again.

before you fit a quickshift have a chat with gearboxman on here (aka Bernie) I said to me that on 2wd gearboxes q/shifts are waste of time cause you can beat the syncro. might be the saem fot the 4x4 box!

I know that the 2wd uses a T5 and my 4x4 uses a MT75 gearbox so I hope it doesn't apply to my gearbox. I really can't stand the amount of throw on it. The funny thing is my previous car, a 2.0 GLSi sierra also uses a MT75 box but the throw never bothered me on that.

Anyway, when abouts is Bernie around usually?

Thankyou very much. When i phone do i just ask for Bernie, will they know who i'm on about?

To apjcozzie, why do you have to half drop the box, is there something you can't get at without doing this. I thought it was a simply a case to remove the centre console and get the gear lever out, or am i being naive?

Thaks again

ziggy you remove the centre console to remove the circlip, but unlike 2wd were the stick can then be removed on the 4x4 it just goes through that bearing and attaches via a pin into the selector shaft, which you can only get to from undernaeth. therefore you need to lower the box to enable you to get up to the pin which is inside a rubber gaitor. sounds harder than it is just the pin underneath is a bit awkward thats all.

I'm deffinitly looking at getting one know. But one thing apjcozzie, did you have any problems mentioned by rslover1, is your quickshift fitted to the escort cozzie pictured?
