Selector problem on rst box
Series 2 rs turbo gearbox, I can get 1st 3rd and 5th find but when putting it in 2nd 4th or R its very notchy when going in and you have to hit the gearstick with quite some force to get it out, tried going underneath and moving the selector with my hands, again fine 1st 3rd and 5th but its quite stiff pushing in the others and you have to tap it out with a screwdriver and mallet to get it back to neutral
I tried adjusting the selector rod but it seems to be the actual rod in the gearbox thats sticking. Its got new oil in and I tired warming it up on some stands but its still the same, anyone have any idea what I can do or whats wrong with it?
The guy I got it off told me it went it all gears fine and I'd rather not spend another few days taking it off again

Sounds like the selector is gone within the box mate
If you can tolerate it and drive it try it for a couple of days it may ease up. When i fitted the engine in my cabriolet i bought what was sold to me as a recon S1 box......its always driven fine but it was an absolute slag to select gears to start with, its got a lot better through a bit of use though.

Think your probably right mate, took it for a quick drive, jumps out a second every other time you put it in and you have to twat the gearstick preety hard to get it back out off either 2nd 4th or reverse, only got three mile though before most of the oil pissed out a driveshaft oil seal.
