Changed 3 of the little buggers on the same car now, and the low water warning light is STILL ON on the dash

Was hoping you weren't going to say that.
If you've put 3 different switches in it can only be the ECU. Were they all new?
If there was fault on the circuit it would flash.
The ECU's are a bit shit to be honest

you wish
If theres a fault on the circuit the bulb flashes when you initially switch on to tell you the circuit has a fault.
The switch changes between 2 resistances, if the ECU doesn't see either resistance it knows there is a fault.
Have you got a multi meter? And without being rude, presumably you have topped the level up yes?

Put the meter across the switch, and move the float up and down, you should see the resistance change from about 1500 ohms (float down) to 300 ohms (float up).
If the switch tests out ok you'll probably need to change the ECU.

The yellow box
But they can also be blue, black, green etc lol
Take the centre grille out of the dash, its below that. 2 x 10mm nuts, and they usually need prying off and they stick to the sound deadening on the bulk head.
