cant get reverse

cant get reverse
hi there i got a sapphire 4x4 and i cant seem to get reverse on it all the other gears are fine it just wont go into reverse often any ideas peeps

What happens if you select reverse before starting the engine, and then proceed to start?

it goes into reverse straight away then mate is that a bad thing

Does it try and creep or does the engine struggle to crank over if you do it that way?

Have you tried waiting a few seconds after pushing the clutch in before selecting reverse?
