Default 3 bar MAP sensor versus 2.5 Bar

Im trying to trouble shoot the limp home mode on my escort cosworth and would like to try another MAP sensor. I have a spare 3 bar one, can anyone tell me if i can run this on a standard escort in place of the 2.5 bar unit, and will the car run normally or will the ecu not allow it.
Many thanks.

It may run but not properly.
The map sensor is just a device which sends the ecu an electrical signal.

e.g. if the scale was 0-1v
So if you 2.5MAP, 2.5bar will 1v
If u use a 3MAP , 3 bar could be at 1v

Therefore u run the risk of detonation cos your running lean.
