How do you test an amal valve, and what are the symptons of it failing.

Just connect it up and see if it clicks, if it does then it is almost definately fine!

cheers mate, but I haven't got a new unit, but wanted to test whether it was working correctly

would unplugging the connection and then plugging it back in be sufficient?

Just disconnect the plug and connect 12v across it, when you connect it up it will click on, and then click back off when you disconnect it.

Its not 100%, but generally when they break they don't make the clicking noise which indicates they are operating internally.
