ive read abit about this but im still abit confused. ive got a 89 xr3i efi could someone tell me what has to be done to fit a ztec in to this model. im just looking to fit a standered ztec for now just to get it running. i wana keep everything from gearbox to the wheels cvh if i can. i need to know everything u can tell me. do i go for a 1.8 xr lump or a 2.0 mondeo lump? im looking at whatevers easyer to fit. plus the wireing in big detail. any help atall would be good.

 

2.0 looks like alot of work swapin parts etc. is the 1.8 the same?

 

i've just bought a 2.0litre mondy engine to go in my ford ka, but becausie i'm gonnna be using a different gearbox to the one that it came with (mtx5) i've got to source quite a few parts from a 1.8 escort- the sump, oil pick up, water pump, flywheel and clutch, alternators got to be moved, so bascically gonna be easier to buy a 1.8 escort lump and all the bits are there.

the 1.8/2.0 mondeo lumps are basically the same, the escort and fiesta lumps are different just in layout of water oump etc...

anyone know what to do about removing all the egr bits n bobs, and how it will effect the ecu???
