i have mananged to pick up an 1.8 engine which is a 1998 mk6.could anyone tell me if it is a straight swop for my 1.8 1993,i know gear boxes are different the starter motors are in different places.will the mk5 gearbox fit or will i need a mk6 gearbox,or any other parts.i've not changed an engine before so i just need to no i've got all the right stuff before i take it all out. any help would be gratefull.

 

engine will drop straight in on your mounts, box will need to be changed as the linkages are different.

your box should be an mtx75 with lift up reverse the later box will be an ib5
