I was wondering if anyone knows if a capri 2.8 lsd diff will fit a mk4 cortina rear axle and if anyone knows of a rear disc conversion,thanx

Depends on what axle casing you are running in the cortina? If its the correct type of Atlas then yes it will fit. But I doubt it?

Rear disc conversions are available for many axle types. Speak to the Squire brothers at RACE.

Yep only fit the H/D axle usually found on Mk3 GTs, Mk4 2.3s and some Mk5's

as above, won't fit on most, but it did fit in my mk5 cortina estate with 'heavy duty towing pack' option.
you need a proper atlas
if you take a pic of the back cover of the diff i can tell you...

U need the big bearing type and yes the 2.8i LSD will fit but i'd go for 3.44;1 ratio good all rounder

Some later 2.0 Mk5s have the bigger bearings with the smaller diff just to confuse matters slightly
Rear discs = escort/sierra front non vented discs, sierra/granada rear calipers, machine the hub end of the halfshaft so the disc fits over it and use an escort Mk5/6 RS2000 H/B cable, for caliper mounts try raldes or capri sport

As for rear disc's i use sierra non vent cals,273mm cos 2wd discs,sierra cable, and my own design brackets,this fits behind 15" wheels and no need to machine hubs

I would personally stay away from anything related to caprisport as there brackets are not up to the job

I had heard that
I do prefer the idea of not having to machine the hubs, save a loy of pee-ing about with the axle
There was a couple of Mk3's at brunters running the compleat sierra IRS, no need for any brackets at all that way

I did think of running with sierra rear end BUT owning a saff cos (2wd) aswell, the cortina puts the power down better due to theres more tyre contact with the road maybe no so good for the twistys but great for straight line blasts

The one with the IRS was fitted it to try and find more traction off the line strangly enough, a new mod a cortina builder in essex is trying out (Steve Taylor)only seen em on 24vs so far.
We just did a CF shoot at brunters with the IRS car getting off better and recording a quicker 0 to 60, that was a 24v Mk3 with IRS and LSD againt a 2.8i turbo Mk5 with usuall rear end, mind you the Mk5 didn't have a slipper fitted which deffo didn't help

Check out next months CF ,it's a cortina special will have the results/artical in it
I must say a sierra rear end deffo feels more predictable in the twisty bits with a corty rear end (specially when it's fully polybushed) it can be a bit "unpredictable"

I find it very good with the slipper in it and with 330 bhp and same amount of torque was'nt as bad as i thought.so i've opted for a bit more power.

I've seen that 24v tina silver with red interior that steve taylor built for a customer very nice(if cash is no problem!!!!) BUT too much like a sierra

I think that mine can run a sub 5 sec 0 to 60 time on my axel..i can doo corners fast but sideways should be no problems with too much wheel spin as i'm on 18"s with 225 tyres

I could do quicker 60ft times at Santa Pod in the cortina than i can in the sierra.

I've had a wee drive of Dels silver one, does corner nice, twas another one of his IRS conversions at brunters.
The Mk5 2.8 turbo was a 4 day throw together so we were surpised it lasted the day and made it home again

best 0 to 60 on the day was around 5 secs by a cossie Mk1 but still not got all the times back yet a certain twin cam p100 going backwards at the end of the runway confused the satillite we recon refused to down load after that

One of your old cossie wheels lives on in my garage
2 were "fragmented" on the M2 when i wrote my GLS off
1 other was bent when me mate wrote his RS1600i off on the M25
and the 4th exploded when another mate hit a traffic island in camden
at least they never asked to borrow "an odd alloy" off me again
Needless to say the surviving wheel hasn't been on a car since

Too many bends steve thinking car was more responsive on the mongoose will change it in the future i reckon i can release a few more horses from a less restrictive system Prob more noise too
