Default help!!!!!!!!! pug 205 keeps cutting out

I`ts drivin (or sometimes not) me mad.I`ts a carb 1.2 `91 h reg model and keeps spluttering even with choke out.For the time being I have speeded it up by turning idle screw but don`t like it this way it`s too fast.I can be driving ok and all of a sudden it`ll start jerking then just die.
At the weekend I`ll check plugs n leads but ain`t got a chance `til then. Could it be a fuel feed problem? I ain`t had a carb cars for years so kinda stumped lol.
Any advice would be great,

Thanks,

Steve.

I`m only asking `cos I thought I might get some advice as its a problem that could affect any car with a carb, and I`m sure it ain`t the first time someone has asked a question about a non ford car.I also come in here reading up on stuff `cos I got an `89 reg xr3i cab,but have to use the pug as a runaround.

pug 205's are notorious for havnug airleaks on the inlet side of the engine, the gtis are well knw for it. check all vac pipes for splits, rubbing through etc, when it is running, spray some carb cleaner around the inlet manifold to see if it revvs up.. if so,, it will point to a leaky inlety manifold gasket.

Cheers mate.it`s been driving me up the wall I have sprayed some but not had time to really look into it.
Will get on to it saturday as well as washing my cabbie and trying to get a mate to help me do some strut brace work and fit a cv boot. Think I`m gonna be busy When it`s nice and shiny I`ll try get some pics on here.
Cheers for the advice.
