mk4 escort deflex problems
my rear end of my mk4 slides out round bends especially when breaking.
well ive been looking abd i think ive found the problem.
first pic is someone elses car.
second is my car.
the tie rods on my car have vertually no thread left sticking out of them whearas the other car has about 3/4".
deflex bushes are coming off my car asap
are standard ones the same front and back?

There's something very wrong with the a-arm bushes on the top picture. On the lower one, I can't see really if the concave washers are the right way on the tie-bar. Also, how many adjusting washers do you use on the tie-bar? Think two before the concave one is standard on most models.
A general problem with the polyurethane a-arm bushes is that the original ones had an steel outer sleeve and the poly one don't. This makes them sit on the arm against a very small area and makes them wobbly and wears them out fast. The cure is to weld a bit of tube to the arm to support the bush better.

i dont think you can get them from fords like you say.
i just mean the tie rod bushes.
luckily i have just found 8 new bushes and 8 new washers in my shed so will fit 4 to the rear and see how it goes.
hey mate you say mk4 so are we talking a turbo?
its just that ive noticed youve got discs on the rear and they are known for going twichy on braking especially on corners
have you fitted extra valves in the braking pipes?
tbh the fact that the bar isnt coming out wont be the problem the top picture the bar could have just been tightened alot! compared to yours which are just pinched?
hope some of this helps

i was told that your supposed to take the metal spacer pipe out of the centre of your old bush and put it in the middle of your new poly bush, it will be alot harder to put it in coz theres less give in a poly bush. thats what burton told me anyway.

mine are done up tight.
you cant squish them up anymore as they have metal collets in them which determine how much thread sticks out the back.
mine are almost flush.
will be trying standard bushes this weekend.
as for brakes, i have put extra restrictors in them.
